- Natalie Shanks
Natalie always loved art.
The messier she got making art, the better she liked it! As a film lover, she finds herself more interested in the props, scenery and colors, than what is going on in the storyline.
After joining organizations like Reel Women and the Austin Film Society, she just had to get involved with making films. It seemed natural for her to explore production design, art Direction, set decoration and as a new art medium.
Natalie has found the Austin filmmaking community supportive, open and overall…great place to “learn the ropes”. It has been so much fun that she wanted to find a way to share her passion with young people. Last summer she co-founded the Austin Film Academy with another Austin film maker. Together they opened the school with a summer film camp, where they produced two student short films to great reviews.
Natalie’s film credits include a feature horror film, several short films, two PSA’s for Reel Women and a web series or two. She has worked in film as an art director, set dresser and production designer.
